QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Graduate degree in a relevant discipline
• Experience in orchestral conducting
• Evidence of successful studio/strings instruction

Preferred:

• D.M.A. in orchestral conducting
• Experience as a music director for an orchestra
• Proven recruiter/experience building orchestral programs
• Experience teaching collegiate theory
• Experience in secondary instruction desired

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Wartburg College invites applicants for a one-year, full-time, titled Visiting Assistant Professor of Music. This position will be responsible for conducting the Wartburg Community Symphony Orchestra and the college chamber orchestra. Additional teaching responsibilities will include strings methods courses, applied lessons, and will include teaching a course(s) within the core curriculum, e.g. music theory or music history. Candidates should have experience in recruitment, retention, and student advising.

SALARY: Competitive
