Job Description:

The Western Kentucky University Department of Music invites applications for a 9-month, full-time Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium beginning August 2021. This is a non-tenure track, renewable, benefits-eligible position at the Instructor rank. We are seeking a vibrant, energetic, performing artist/teacher to work collaboratively with the instrumental faculty. Our Department of Music promotes and supports educational diversity and includes three concert bands, jazz ensembles, athletic bands, orchestra, chamber ensembles and multiple recruitment/outreach activities. Responsibilities include teaching, developing, recruiting and retaining a tuba/euphonium studio of the highest quality via local, regional, and national outreach and performance. Additional responsibilities will include a secondary cognate of teaching as defined by departmental needs and the candidate's additional area(s) of expertise. Candidates must demonstrate success as a tuba/euphonium teacher and performer, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as expertise in teaching music courses, and the ability to work effectively within a diverse campus community.


Requirements:

  • Earned Master's degree in Tuba Performance by August 1, 2021
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching applied Tuba and Euphonium
  • Demonstrated expertise teaching in a secondary music area or cognate
