Description
The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University
invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor
position in Business Analytics. The start date is August 8th, 2021.
Potential candidates will mainly teach graduate classes for a new
Master of Science in Business Analytics, including optimization,
simulation, data mining, machine learning, deep learning, and
artificial intelligence algorithms using Python or/and R in a
business context. Candidates should be willing to teach using
various instructional modalities (face to face, online, blended)
and engage with the local industry to provide applied learning
opportunities for the students. Candidates should also demonstrate
an active and ongoing research agenda that leads to peer reviewed
publications and conference presentations. Some service activities
at the university, professional, and local community level are
expected from every faculty member.
Wichita, KS is known as “The Air Capital of the World” given the large number of aircraft manufacturing companies that call Wichita home. The Barton School of Business works closely with the business community, which provides research opportunities for faculty and keeps our curriculum relevant. The candidate will be a faculty member in the department of Finance, Real Estate, and Decision Sciences (FREDS), which offers programs in Finance, MIS, BA, and Supply Chain with a cross-disciplinary focus that give students the skills to bridge functional business areas by applying expertise in analytics, information systems, and/or supply chain management.
Requirements
Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Business Analytics or a closely related area from an AACSB accredited College of Business. Candidates at an advanced stage of their doctoral studies (ABD) will be considered if they demonstrate capability of completing their degree requirements before the effective date of appointment. Candidates must also demonstrate evidence of:
- Teaching effectiveness in Business Analytics classes
- Research that result in scholarly research and presentations
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching and research interests focus on methodological applications or decision-making supported by big data, business analytics, and/or business intelligence.
