Lecturer, Curriculum Studies Program
The Department of Curriculum and Teaching is seeking to hire a new full-time Lecturer in the areas of Curriculum Studies, Curriculum Design, K-12 Pedagogy, and/or adjacent fields. This is a nine-month position (non-tenure track) with possibility for renewal and for summer teaching. We are searching for an individual who will take on important pedagogical responsibilities and contribute to the work of rethinking our programs to respond to emerging needs. Responsibilities include teaching five graduate courses per academic year, supporting administrative tasks in several programs, advising students, supervising research projects at the Masters level, and participating in the life of the Department.
Exact teaching duties will be determined taking into account the successful candidate’s specific qualifications and evolving Departmental needs, but all or most of the courses will be required classes for several closely connected Masters programs serving early to mid-career educators. Masters and doctoral students from other programs and departments also elect these courses.
Candidates should have a doctoral degree in the field relevant to the teaching areas and experience teaching at the K-12 level. Candidates should be committed to public education, and to the mission of Teachers College and the Department (see: https://www.tc.columbia.edu/, https://www.tc.columbia.edu/curriculum-and-teaching/ ). Evidence of strong teaching and commitment to students in college/university/teacher education contexts is expected. Experience as a practitioner and a scholar of teacher education is preferred. Expertise in one or more of the following is also preferred: K - 6, 6 - 8, &/or 8 - 12 schooling, curriculum theory and design, practitioner inquiry, and online teaching.
The salary range is $65,000 to $80,000.
