Summary

The Sponsored Programs Analyst is responsible for the timely submission of grants to the internal and external sponsored program offices of the Department of Pediatrics. You will work with faculty in identifying funding opportunities and preparing the grant application, budget and related documents for submission to the appropriate granting agency and foundation. Will also assist in preparing subcontracts, setup of grant awards and assist with progress reports. The Sponsored Programs Analyst is part of the pre-award team. This team is responsible for the submission of all grants and proposals in the Cancer Center for our 200+ faculty. They prepare budgets, package and prepare the application for submission.

Job Duties
  • Grant Funding Opportunities (25%)
  • Identify funding opportunities and discuss/plan the timeline for submission
  • Review the guidelines and requirements of the granting agency or foundation to ensure the faculty member, postdoc, or fellow are eligible to apply
  • Discuss opportunities with faculty or program leaders
  • Grant Applications/Submissions & Budget Preparation (50%)
  • Prepare and gather documents for the required approvals and submission of grant applications
  • Work with the Department and institutional sponsored program offices to ensure applications are submitted correctly with no errors
  • Prepare budgets for the grant applications and related projects, including obtaining quotes and salary information.
  • Calculate indirect and direct costs for budget submission
  • Understand NIH and granting agency/foundation guidelines related to the submission of the application, for formatting and submission requirements
  • Follow state, federal and BCM policies, procedures and guidelines that govern grant submission
  • Gather and format biosketches, letters of support, references, appendices and related documentation for grant submissions.
  • Subcontracts, Progress and related reports (25%)
  • Submission of subcontracts and routing of contracts to sites in multi-center grants and projects
  • Prepare interim and final progress reports for grants, including financial reporting for close-outs.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • One year of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's in Business Administration or Public Health
  • One year of related experience (administrative, research or financial)
  • Experience in research and/or data or financial experience
  • Project Management experience
