Position Purpose: The Director of Student Accounts supports learning by managing, supervising, and coordinating daily operations of the Student Accounts Office. Responsible for planning, implementation, and evaluation of accounts receivable activities to ensure a high level of integrity and service related to the processing of all tuition and tuition-related charges, receivables, financial aid posting, loan processing and collection of past due accounts.

  • Essential Job Functions:

  • Directs the operational activities of the Student Accounts Office, including the accurate and timely collection of student accounts receivable and security of transactions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely billing of student and third-party accounts.
  • Supervises daily reconciliation of payments and bank deposits.
  • Establishes semester payment plan parameters and oversees monthly processes.
  • Counsels students and parents regarding student account and billing information.
  • Coordinates processing of financial aid funds.
  • Coordinates processing of student refunds due to overpayment and excess financial aid funds in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Manages preparation of account receivable general ledger reconciliations and requested documentation for annual external audit.
  • Prepares analytical summaries of past-due accounts, and manages late fees, registration holds, and graduation holds for past-due accounts.
  • Responsible for maintaining accuracy and compliance with university, federal and state regulations and guidelines including but not limited to FERPA, Title IV and IRS required filings related to 1098T.


  • Essential Job Requirements:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree is required.


    Experience:

    • Previous experience with an automated accounts receivable database system preferred.
    • Previous supervisory responsibility in a professional office experience is preferred.
    • Experience with complex ERP preferred.


    Skills:

    • Excellent interpersonal, customer service skills, and written/verbal communication skills.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate.
    • Able to handle multiple priorities and effectively meet deadlines as required.

    • Ability to move about campus and other locations.
    • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
