The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia invites experienced applicants for a non-tenure-track teaching position in Management, beginning in August 2021.  Primary teaching needs include fundamentals of Business taught to first year students. However, teaching responsibilities may vary based on departmental need and candidate proficiency. Expertise in leadership and innovation is also valued. Applicants are expected to teach eighteen (18) credit hours per academic year.

 

The McIntire School of Commerce (http://www.commerce.virginia.edu) is collegial and highly engaged. With approximately 700 undergraduate students and 300 one year master’s students, the School is focused on delivering preprofessional credentials to a population of highly performing students. With a faculty of 100, students receive a level of focused attention that sets the McIntire experience apart. The School prides on its ability to leverage a uniquely designed experience that pairs classroom instruction with real world applications that differentially prepare students for careers within the most competitive fields in business. The unparalleled student experience at McIntire is executed by faculty who masterfully integrate theory and application with a keen eye toward pushing the boundaries of what is next across industries.

 

Required qualifications for the position include: 

1) a minimum of a Master’s degree in Management or a business-related discipline. PhD in General Business, Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior or closely related field is preferred.

2) prior teaching experience at a collegiate level or evidence for potential success in this area.

3) relevant professional experience.

 

Currently, the McIntire School of Commerce awards a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, a Master of Science in Commerce, a Master of Science in Accounting, a Master of Science in Global Commerce (collaboratively with Esade Business School, Spain, and Lingnan (University) College, China), a Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology, and a Master of Science in Business Analytics (collaboratively with the Darden School of Business). McIntire is recognized for excellence and innovation in undergraduate and graduate business education and scholarship. In the most recent rankings by Poets&Quants, McIntire was ranked #2 among the nation’s best undergraduate business programs (up from third place a year ago). It has also consistently been ranked in the top ten best undergraduate business programs by U.S. News & World report (the 2021 report ranks it as #7). The Economist ranked its Master of Science in Commerce program as the #1 Masters in Management program in the US and #6 in the World. 

 

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
