The Assistant Director of Student Counseling is a 12-month position responsible for individual counseling, group counseling and outreach programming on issues related to student development.

Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide clinical services to students including: individual counseling, group counseling, crisis counseling, and family counseling as well as coordination of care and referrals as needed.

  • Supervise graduate counseling interns and graduate practicum students.

  • Provide support on behavioral health issues to faculty and staff as appropriate.

  • Rotate weekend and evening on-call services with all Counseling Center licensed clinical staff.

  • Develop, provide, and coordinate outreach programming and materials as needed.

  • Serve as a member of committees, advisory groups, and the student life staff, and collaborate on programs, community building and issues related to diversity as assigned or requested.

  • Represent student counseling and/or Rhodes College at on-campus events and off-campus meetings related to professional organizations.

  • Complies with all Rhodes College policies and guidelines.

  • Maintains all relevant ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice for a Licensed Psychologist, Professional Counseling, or Social Worker or other license (relevant to credentials) in the state of Tennessee.

  • Coordination of one or more of the following areas shared among other staff: crisis, outreach, and initiatives.

  • Regular attendance is an essential function to perform the duties of this position.

Job Requirements:
  • Master's Degree or Doctorate Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field required

  • This position requires a current TN licensure as a Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor – Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP). Must be licensed to practice independently. TN licensure must be ratified by the TN Licensure Board within 90 days of employment at Rhodes College.

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in counseling. Experience in a college/university setting or in late adolescent/young adult development preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required

  • Excellent communication skills required

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information required

  • Demonstrated ability to work well on a team
