The Assistant Director of Student Counseling is a
12-month position responsible for individual counseling, group
counseling and outreach programming on issues related to student
development.
Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide clinical services to students including: individual counseling, group counseling, crisis counseling, and family counseling as well as coordination of care and referrals as needed.
- Supervise graduate counseling interns and graduate practicum students.
- Provide support on behavioral health issues to faculty and staff as appropriate.
- Rotate weekend and evening on-call services with all Counseling Center licensed clinical staff.
- Develop, provide, and coordinate outreach programming and materials as needed.
- Serve as a member of committees, advisory groups, and the student life staff, and collaborate on programs, community building and issues related to diversity as assigned or requested.
- Represent student counseling and/or Rhodes College at on-campus events and off-campus meetings related to professional organizations.
- Complies with all Rhodes College policies and guidelines.
- Maintains all relevant ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice for a Licensed Psychologist, Professional Counseling, or Social Worker or other license (relevant to credentials) in the state of Tennessee.
- Coordination of one or more of the following areas shared among other staff: crisis, outreach, and initiatives.
- Regular attendance is an essential function to perform the duties of this position.
- Master's Degree or Doctorate Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field required
- This position requires a current TN licensure as a Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor – Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP). Must be licensed to practice independently. TN licensure must be ratified by the TN Licensure Board within 90 days of employment at Rhodes College.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in counseling. Experience in a college/university setting or in late adolescent/young adult development preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
- Excellent communication skills required
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information required
- Demonstrated ability to work well on a team
