The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is recruiting for a Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor of Human Resources.  This is a one year, non-tenure eligible position within the School of Business. The position is generally intended for recent graduates of a doctoral program who would like to gain teaching experience and mentorship in a supportive, teaching-focused institution. Faculty on sabbatical from other institutions will also be considered. The position will be physically located on the UW-Platteville Main campus.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Teach four courses per term in Fall and Spring semesters. Potential courses include:
  2. Introduction to HR Management
  3. Management, Gender, and Race
  4. Organizational Behavior
  5. Employee Recruitment and Selection
  6. Leadership and Management
  7. Other courses based on the candidate’s expertise
  • Attend relevant trainings related to teaching.
  • Engage in mentoring activities with a tenured professor.
  • Assist a lead faculty, where needed, with the student chapter of Society of Human Resource Management.
  • Additional opportunities to teach winterim or summer courses may be available.

    6. Although research is not an expectation of the position, the candidate may also have access to funding to present scholarly work at appropriate conferences.

    What You'll Need to Succeed:

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Doctorate or ABD in Human Resource Management, Business, or closely related field.
    2. Although teaching experience is not required, applicants must demonstrate a commitment to student learning and a willingness to grow in their own teaching ability.
    3. Demonstrated knowledge or coursework related to ethnic and gender issues in organizational management.

    Preferred Qualifications

    1. Willingness to teach in both traditional classroom and distance environments.
    2. Willingness to explore the use of or include client-based projects, simulations, service learning, or undergraduate research in relevant courses.
    3. Industry experience in a diversity and inclusion role.

    The School of Business is an energetic, teaching-focused academic unit that emphasizes applied experiences in preparing future business professionals. Courses frequently include client-based projects, advanced simulations, and other high-impact learning activities to help students bridge theory to practice. The school offers over 15 programs at the associates, bachelors, and masters levels in multiple modalities including classroom and online.
