The Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law is conducting a national search for its next Employer Relations Leader - Assistant Dean for Professional Development and Pro Bono Program.

Essential job duties include the following:

  • Develop and implement long-range strategic plans and goals for the Office of Professional Development and Pro Bono Program.
  • Develop, implement and oversee the execution of employer and alumni outreach programs designed to increase utilization of office services by legal employers nationwide.
  • Serve as a primary career counselor to students and alumni. Provide information regarding career options, general job search strategies, judicial clerkships, personnel issues, and professional development. (The Law School’s Office of Professional Development provides services to the school’s Juris Doctor (JD); Master of Law (LL.M.); and Master of Jurisprudence (M.J.) students.)
  • Oversee and administer the development and coordination of all recruitment and employer services fall and spring on-campus interviewing programs, job fairs, resume forwarding, the on-line job posting and resume services.
  • Organize and oversee the development and execution of educational seminars, programs and related events sponsored or co-sponsored by the Office of Professional Development.
  • Supervise the Office of Professional Development and Pro Bono staff, including making hiring decisions, direction and assignment of work duties, disciplinary issues, performance appraisal and training.
  • Construct and oversee the creation, editing and production of all career publications, including handouts, newsletters, recruitment materials and other office publications.
  • Assist with and manage the compilation and completion of statistical data, which includes the Career Services’ portions of the American Bar Association and U.S News & World Report Annual Questionnaires, the law school’s report for the National Association for Law Placement, and other surveys as needed.

Qualified candidates should have a Juris Doctor degree along with five (5) years’ comprehensive career services experience.  Experience must include significant career counseling, preferably within a law school setting.  Experience in recruiting, marketing, career counseling and administration are highly desired. 

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position include excellent communication skills; good organizational skills; good writing and editing skills; the ability to engage with people; leadership skills; and management skills. 

Compensation for this position will be up to $77,000, not inclusive of benefits.
