FULL-TIME OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT FACULTY

ANNOUNCEMENT:  Southwestern Illinois College, a community college offering both transfer and occupational degrees, is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track, Outcomes Assessment faculty position. The anticipated start date is as early as June 2021.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the successful applicant will assist in the further development of the College outcomes assessment model to include course, program and institutional levels of assessment. This position will be responsible for designing models of assessment and ensuring the effectiveness of the assessment plan to improve student learning. This position will be highly involved with planning and coordinating assessment functions, which include collaboration with faculty and administration.  Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

 

 
  • Assess student performance and collaborate with faculty to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional offerings and programs.
  • Analyze assessment findings to ensure reliability and validity, share assessment findings with various college constituents to devise strategies for the implementation of assessment data.
  • Assist with program review and evaluation processes including developing goals and outcomes and designing appropriate tools to measures the attainment of those outcomes.
  • Assist with the oversight and coordination of outcomes assessment functions, to include participation in each of the Outcomes Assessment committee structure.
  • Develop and implement models of assessment across all academic divisions.
  • Report and maintain documentation of outcomes assessment activities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate outcomes assessment activities with the Higher Learning Commission.
  • Identify special needs related to the assessment of student learning.
  • Monitor compliance with assessment practices consistent with adherence to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB).
  • Stay current in best practices related to the assessment of student learning to ensure our assessment processes/plan improve student learning.
  • Participate in college-wide projects and support resource development activities, such as grant writing, that will enhance the college’s efforts to assess and improve student learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree in Assessment, Educational Research or related field required.
  2. Three years of experience with student learning outcomes and evaluation.
  3. Applied and advanced knowledge of research and assessment methodology, curriculum development and assessment design.
  4. Strong presentation skills to communicate assessment plans and results effectively with a wide range of audiences.
  5. Experience in working with diverse student populations preferred.
  6. Shall meet the minimum standards of instruction established by the Board of Trustees for any assigned courses.

 

SALARY The salary is determined by placement on the base salary schedule.  For example, the minimum starting salary at Step 1 on the Master’s degree column is $49,453. The actual starting salary is determined by educational attainment level and experience. Voluntary overload and summer assignments may also be available which may increase the annual compensation. The college offers a comprehensive flexible benefit program.

 

WORK LOCATION:  Belleville Campus with District-wide responsibilities
