UW Bothell Information Technology is seeking a Technical Manager for Infrastructure to join our team. Given the University’s current operational status, this position will start remote.

The technical manager will provide technical leadership for the UW Bothell IT Infrastructure Team. This is a hands-on leadership position; technical acumen is essential. The technical manager will be responsible for assessing the UW Bothell infrastructure environment; making recommendations on technical direction; increasing efficiencies by leveraging UW-IT services; and make the best use of local resources to support UW Bothell critical needs. An essential focus for this position will be to advance the organization’s technical and security roadmap.

The technical manager supervises multiple staff members who perform highly visible day-to-day operations and support functions providing Infrastructure services to our campus. As UWB-IT moves to a more customer-focused organization, this role will need to collaborate across institutional boundaries to ensure good service delivery and experience for our students, faculty, and staff.

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, liberal arts or a related field or equivalent skills and experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience supervising staff, or equivalent combination of supervisory and lead experience.
• Including 2+ years’ experience in a customer-facing support role.
• Including 3+ years professional enterprise Windows systems administration.
• Experience documenting and sharing knowledge to improve team skills, performance, and customer self-service
• Experience leading technical projects
• Initiative and follow-through to own issues until resolution
• Desire to continuously learn new technologies, skills, methods, and best practices
• Ability to adapt to change in a customer focused workplace
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to effectively handle conflict in a respectful and positive manner
• Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Desired:
• Experience with Microsoft technologies (e.g., Active Directory, Azure, HyperV, SCCM)
• Experience writing scripts in Powershell or equivalent
• Experience with security best practices and industry standards
• Experience with Linux administration

Working Conditions:
• This position involves responsibilities and occasional situations where work outside of standard business hours is required to manage incidents or to meet critical deadlines.
