The Laboratory Slpecialist is responsible for the careful conduct and analysis of experiments using animal tissues and cultured cells. This analysis will include Western Blotting, real-time PCR, preparation of tissue samples for immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy, and a radioactive enzyme assay. It may involve animal handling. In addition, tasks will include preparation of media and solutions and laboratory maintenance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s in biology or a biomedical science. Willingness and ability to learn new experimental techniques, with proper training and supervision by PI, then being able to carry out these experiments satisfactory and in a timely manner. Ability to coordinate and work in a diverse environment. Employee must have ability to think on his/her own and detect potential problems during the course of experiments, so that he/she can discuss and troubleshoot with supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a laboratory with cultured cell systems and basic protein and molecular biology skills.
