The Payroll coordinator role ensures the accurate and timely processing of employees payroll data, time recording and absence reporting for the University of Houston System. This includes but is not limit to analyzing the daily change files, TRAM reviews, provides communication of payroll discrepancies, troubleshoots issues with client groups and the component campus. Assists with training and handling calls from the Human Resources customer service team.

  1. Reviews reports and processes retroactive personnel actions for off-cycle payrolls; enters retroactive data corrections onto pay lines upon approval.
  2. Provides customer service to departmental administrators with the review and correction of on- and off-cycle payrolls to ensure proper payment of employees.
  3. Reviews and enters data on timesheets for bi-weekly payrolls.
  4. Reviews Time Reporting/Absence Management (TRAM) reports to ensure timely approval of time and absences, correction of exceptions, and proper justification and entry of corrections.
  5. Assists departmental administrators with the review and approval of time and absences.
  6. Audits and corrects enrollment of employees in TRAM.
  7. Assists departmental administrators with assignment of employees to time approvers and payroll approvers.
  8. Reviews and enters data for additional pays, general deductions, direct deposits, and other payroll records as assigned.
  9. Processes terminal vacation pay, adjusts leave balances, and inactivates plan enrollment for terminated employees.
  10. Processes requests for wage statements as requested. Assists with reviews to maintain data integrity and other projects as assigned.
  11. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 6 months experience.

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Requires a minimum of six (6) months of directly job-related experience.

Previous higher education experience in payroll a plus.
