Position Summary:
Responsible as the initial point of contact for receipt of laboratory samples including veterinary toxicology, water, plant, soil, and environmental monitoring samples. Initiate laboratory sample check-in procedure and help coordinate sample flow through the laboratory. Gather client information and record all sample information into logbooks and the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Ensure proper assignment of analytical tests. Interact with chemists to ensure that turn-around times are met for veterinary toxicology samples. Enter analytical data into the LIMS and generate reports and invoices. Maintain records of sample receiving and analysis through proper filing systems. Prepares electronic data downloads (EDDs) and other forms of electronic reporting. Use of analytical balance for gravimeter analysis of environmental samples. Additional analyses include soil pH, EC, and organic matter. Knowledge of laboratory QA/QC principles and AAVLD/ISO 17025 requirements. Other duties as needed to assist management.


Minimum Qualifications:
High School Degree or GED
Experience in:
• Following pre-established procedures or protocols
• Keeping complete and accurate records
• Using a computer to enter and retrieve data
• Working in a team environment


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in:
• Using effective written and verbal communication skills to relay information and provide problem solving resolutions to clients in a professional, customer service oriented environment.
• Working in a laboratory environment using laboratory QA/QC principles and AAVLD/ISO 17025 requirements.
• Using database software including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Using medical and/or laboratory terminology.
• Applying practices and procedures used in office support operations and using office equipment. Using alphabetical, numerical and subject filing systems.
• Reviewing documents for compliance with established procedures and determining errors or omissions.

Ability to:
• Follow good laboratory practices, safety procedures and other policies and procedures consistent in working in an analytical laboratory.
• Perform laboratory tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• Work well with others and coordinate tasks with other individuals.
• Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Use good organizational and time management skills.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
• Required to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move up to 40 pounds.
