Summary Barry University invites nominations and applications for a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as Dean of the Andreas School of Business. The Dean is the chief academic, administrative, and fiscal officer of the School, reports to the Provost, and serves as a member of the University’s academic leadership team. The Andreas School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business Accreditation (AACSB) and is one of five Schools and two Colleges at Barry University. The School offers undergraduate and graduate programs to a diverse population of more than 1000 students.

The University seeks candidates with comprehensive administrative experiences. This individual will be expected to facilitate the advancement of its entrepreneurial and global initiatives, further the institution’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusivity, and promote the University’s mission, comprehensive strategic agenda and Catholic identity.

Expected appointment date is July 1, 2021

Essential Functions  Key expectations for this academic leader include the ability to:

  • Engage in strategic visioning, planning, and resource management.

  • Foster a culture of collegiality, accountability, and transparency.

  • Support faculty growth and development of innovative pedagogies and delivery platforms.

  • Expand partnerships and fundraise to advance the mission of the school, support strategic priorities, and promote student success.  

  • Champion the School through its structure, advisory board and philanthropic activities.

 

Qualifications/Requirements An earned doctorate in Business or a related field from a regionally-accredited and preferably AACSB institution. Exceptional leaders with demonstrated success in industry and experience working with academic leaders will be considered.  

  • Evidence of distinguished teaching, scholarly, and service accomplishments that merit a faculty appointment (professor rank preferred).

  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive administrative experience in academic or executive positions in public or private sector.

  • Experience with successful AACSB International accreditation efforts, and a comprehensive understanding of professional and regional accreditation processes (NASPAA, SACS-COC).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse internal and external groups. Ability to engage community stakeholders is crucial.
