The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Department of Art and Design is accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month Assistant Professor of Art Education (R0002483) tenure-track position to commence August of 2021. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. 

We are seeking an energetic, self-directed art educator. The primary responsibilities of the position are teaching undergraduate courses in art education, coordination of the art education program including content and curriculum development, advising undergraduate art education majors, and other duties as assigned.

Required education and experience include a Ph.D. in art education by the time of appointment with experience teaching at the K-12 levels. Preferred experience includes; evidence of scholarship including a record of peer-reviewed research, publications and presentations in art education, successful funding procurement, and grant activity, service-related activities in art education or related program(s) and/or professional organization(s), active membership in professional art education organizations, a demonstrated commitment to diversity and preparing art education students for the teaching profession, ability to teach studio courses at the university level.

The Department of Art and Design has 16 full-time faculty and support positions, multiple part-time positions, and 180+ majors that include undergraduate and graduate-level students. BA and BFA degrees are offered in studio art with concentrations in painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, graphic design, illustration, and sculpture; applied design with concentrations in furniture design, metals, and ceramics; art education with licensure; and art history. An MA degree is offered with emphases in visual art and art history. The department is housed in the newly constructed 65,500 sq. ft. Windgate Center of Art + Design facility and is accredited by NASAD. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock serves a diverse population of 9,500 traditional and non-traditional students. As the capital of Arkansas, Little Rock has an active downtown, arts district, multiple parks and trails for hiking and bicycling, and a population of 200,000.
