General Summary/Purpose:

Under the direction of Dr. Chirag Parikh, Director of the Division of Nephrology, this Sr. Research Assistant will collaborate on the design and set-up of standard operating procedures of translational and clinical research, as well as the overseeing of data collection and analysis therein. The Sr. Research Assistant will also manage, program and analyze data while conducting literature reviews and manuscript writing for Dr. Parikh’s ongoing clinical research studies (seehttp://tribe.jhmi.edu/)

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Data management, statistical programming and data analysis
  • Performs a variety of duties involving the application of statistical skills to the design of research studies.
  • Works as a member of a research team/study team to provide appropriate statistical input in the design, execution and analysis of studies.
  • Analyzes and interprets statistical data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information.
  • Processes large amounts of data for statistical modeling and graphic analysis.
  • Participation in many aspects of publications including data set preparation, data validation, implementation of analytic plans, report generation, and preparation of written and oral presentations.
  • Develop data collection tools based on understanding of underlying study design
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Three years of related experiencerequired.
  • Additional graduate level education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula:18 graduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for one year of experience.For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MPH or MS in relevant field preferred.
  • BS in the Life Sciences, Engineering, Math or completion of the Pre-Medical track
  • An ideal candidate will have prior experience in data management or data analysis
  • Interest in applied data analysis in clinical research
  • Experienced in statistical programming (prefer SAS or R)

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in statistical programming (prefer SAS or R)
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Starting Salary Range: $38,920.08 - $53,517.60 (commensurate with experience)

Schedule: Monday-Friday –8:30am-5:00pm 37.5hrs/Wk - This position is able to fulfill all job duties offsite during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
