The Registered Nurse position serves as a medical resource, health educator and advocate for students, faculty, staff and their dependents at Auburn University at Montgomery ( AUM ). Warhawk Health Services is staffed by The Director, Registered Nurse, Medical Assistant, and Senior Program Associate and is available to students in the Irma B. Moore Hall on campus. Warhawk Health Services also offers a variety of preventative health services such as health screenings, physical examinations, immunizations, contraceptive counseling and laboratory testing; The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing effective, efficient and appropriate services to AUM in order to fulfill the university health care needs.

o Triage patients
o Obtain vital signs and health history
o Perform nursing assessment
o Start IVs and phlebotomy
o Perform electrocardiograms
o Administer PO/IM/IV medications
o Screening and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases
o Assist SON in maintaining minimum requirements for nursing students
o Assist Senior Director in monitoring Immprint documentation/reports
o Stock rooms, maintain inventory, and order supplies
o Administer immunizations and order vaccines
o Work in collaboration with ESL and Office of Global Initiatives to maintain international student’s current with immunizations/TB skin tests
o Maintain CPR / BLS / ACLS certifications
o Assist with the AUmazing Health Fair
o Participate in orientation
o Provide educational sessions as needed
o Cross train with other staff duties as assigned
o Financial duties as assigned in absence of administrative associate

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of acceptable medical/nursing practices and procedures.
Knowledge of AUM’s student health/medical policies and procedures.
Prior EHR experience preferred.
Self-motivated and well-organized.
Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency.
Knowledge of state and federal medical/nursing rules and regulations.
Knowledge of basic word processing software.
Skill in providing excellent customer service and support, organizing and prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines, and excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds.
Ability to work effectively with managers, co-workers, members of the public, and professional groups.
Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, concisely with others (internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing), consistently demonstrate positive/proactive customer service attitude. Consistently maintains ethical behaviors exemplary of quality public service and fair standards, inclusively, among all employees and members of the public.
Ability to work as an effective team member, function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative, be flexible, maintain confidentiality, establish and maintain effective interpersonal work relationships.
Ability to receive constructive feedback including evaluation of provider’s productivity and practice attributes

Minimum Qualifications:

o 3 years minimum experience required
o Current Alabama Nursing license
o Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred
o BLS required
o ACLS preferred
o Professional communication skills
o Excellent customer service skills
