DIVISION: Enrollment Management
DEPARTMENT: Office of Admission
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for leading a team that can implement a strategic undergraduate recruitment and admission plan for the University, while managing the daily operations of the Office of Admission with integrity.
UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS: Exposure to highly confidential information
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL NEEDED:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent related experience.
EXPERIENCE: Seven years of progressively responsible admissions experience;
excellent supervisory and leadership skills; strong communication, interpersonal
and technological skills are required. Knowledge and willingness to learn Workday, Slate and Banner a plus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. To be responsible for implementing a strategic undergraduate
recruitment and admission plan for the University. This involves:
- analyzing demographic trends to target new areas for
development,
- identifying regional territories for first-time freshmen and
transfer students,
- analyzing and determining target freshmen and transfer
admission
models in consultation with the Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management
- cultivating interest in Fairfield University through
innovative
and creative techniques,
- setting goal targets for increasing inquiries to prospective
applicants
in designated territories,
- directing ongoing prospect management to all prospective
students in
designated territories,
- utilizing alumni and external media mix to identify strategies
to
strengthen existing feeder markets,
- ensuring a data driven approach as it relates to admission and
recruitment
- designing and implementing strategies for recruitment of
special populations as determined by the University.
2. To select, train, support, supervise and evaluate Office of Admission staff and
manage daily operations. This involves:
- Hiring new staff members that model the charisms of a Fairfield
University education
- Supporting, training, and motivating admission team members to
accomplish their professional goals
- training and advising new personnel relative to their
respective duties
and responsibilities,
- supervising and evaluating performance of assigned duties,
- providing recommendations for ongoing staff development,
- overseeing professional and support staff members,
- managing the budget of the Office of Admission.
3. To serve as a liaison between the Office of Admission and the
university community through the Vice President
for Strategic Enrollment Management. This involves:
- Forming last relationships with key constituent groups (school
counselors, professional organizations, CBOs, and groups within the
AJCU)
4. To participate in the professional development of the Office of Admission.
This involves:
- actively participating in the campus community to engage
broad
support and cooperation for Office of Admission efforts,
- attending departmental and divisional staff meetings as
requested,
- promoting transparency, efficiency and courtesy throughout the
University
- remaining knowledgeable in all aspects of Fairfield University
– its history, campus, programs, enrollment and in the broad field
of admission,
- representing Fairfield University in professional associations
related
to admission.
5. To promote safe, secure, and uplifting working conditions.

6. To perform other related duties as directed by responsibilities.
