JOB SUMMARY:
Adelphi University's General Studies Learning Community invites application for a three-year full-time lecturer position (renewable) for the Fall 2021 semester. The General Studies Learning Community has a rich history at Adelphi and is home to a deeply devoted faculty. The program offers students first-year liberal arts coursework along with academic counseling and faculty coaching.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Potential for excellence in teaching and collaboration in the General Studies Learning Community is essential.
- The teaching load includes three courses a semester, one of which will be an interdisciplinary first-year seminar.
- Weekly coaching with students, and cooperative work with other faculty and academic counselors.
- There are potential opportunities for teaching, collaboration, and scholarship across campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The preferred candidate will hold a terminal degree in the Humanities and have experience teaching first-generation students and other underserved student populations.
- Ability or experience to deliver courses online is desirable.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a background in creating interdisciplinary, experiential learning opportunities and designing culturally diverse and inclusive courses (Universal Design Learning); and interest in building a social justice curriculum.
