Description:
  • A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Ecosystem Science and Modeling lab (https://www.harteresearchinstitute.org/research/ecosystem-science-modeling) at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies. The primary obligations for the postdoctoral researcher will be to: 1) analyze and publish data from both historical and ongoing carbonate chemistry sampling efforts, 2) assume a leadership role in coastal carbon cycle study using a variety of monitoring tools, 3) join ocean going cruises for field sample and data collection. Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and publish data from both historical ongoing sampling efforts.
  • Assume a leadership role in coastal carbon cycle study using a variety of monitoring tools
  • Join ocean going cruises for field sample and data collection
  • Collaborate with other members of the lab group, and mentor undergraduate/early career graduate students in the lab.
  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research results at public meetings and national/international meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in Marine Science or related field.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), working knowledge in MatLab and/or R.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience communicating scientific findings to a broad audience.
  • Desire to work with a broad spectrum of collaborators and stakeholders.
  • Experience with seawater carbonate chemistry studies.
  • Experience with numerical and statistical modeling of natural systems.
  • Experience with project management and ability to meet project goals in a timely manner.
