Teaches students in undergraduate Biology courses. Facilitates
undergraduate research program as it pertains to the activity of
the research center. Recruits qualified cadets to work with faculty
on research projects. Provide full supervision for professional
scientific staff assuring uniform execution of government
cooperative agreements. Exercises full supervisory responsibilities
for planning, organizing, reviewing, and evaluating and
implementing all duties performed by the laboratory staff.
Plans and adjusts work schedules and operations to meet established
objectives, priorities, deadlines and standards of laboratory
research. Responsible for research center budget. Prepares and
recommends program budget; manages and controls expenditures of
resources. Attends scientific meetings to gather and disseminate
information on research center results as well as promoting the
United States Air Force Academy mission to educate, train and
create officers of character and leadership. Serves as review
officer, responsible for the initial administrative, scientific and
technical review of research grant applications assigned to the
Life Sciences Research Center (LSRC) before forwarding them to
outside institutions. Ensures all research is conducted in
accordance with federal regulations including the protection of
humans subjects involved in research and will coordinate efforts
with appropriate oversight offices as necessary. Ensures that
scientific, regulatory, funding, and other administrative efforts
are coordinated with other activities in support of the LSRC
specifically (but not limited to: 1) Defense Health Agency,
Clinical Investigations Program Office, 2) 10th MDG, 3) Air Force
Office of Scientific Research and strategizing with multiple
stakeholders to conduct appropriate military and academic relevant
studies, training, and research for the benefit of the Department
of Defense and USAFA. Prepares summary reports of research center
findings for analysis, review and progress toward Department of
Defense research requirements.
