Associate Dean of Education

King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA, seeks its inaugural Associate Dean of Education, a position that responds to the College’s strategic commitment to continued development of outstanding undergraduate and graduate programming in the field of education.

The Associate Dean of Education, in collaboration with Academic Affairs, will provide administrative leadership by directing the faculty and curricular affairs of the Education Department. The College currently offers master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, Reading, and Special Education; bachelor’s degrees in Education (Grades PK-4), Special Education (PK-12), Educational Studies, Math Education Grades 4-8, and Science Education Grades 4-8; certification in nine secondary areas; and graduate programs leading to endorsements and certifications, including Principal, STEM, Instructional Coaching, and Autism. Additionally, in fall 2020, the College launched a five-year B.A./M.Ed. program for certifications in PK-4, Special Education, and Reading. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Arts and Sciences, the Associate Dean of Education will oversee departmental planning and budgeting, recruitment and evaluation of faculty, and the development of education programs.

The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate or other terminal degree in an appropriate discipline, higher education teaching experience in pre-service education and development, and an understanding of current issues and future directions in higher education. The candidate will also have experience in leadership and accreditation in the higher education context and will demonstrate attention to detail, an innovative spirit, collaborative and problem-solving skills, and an ability to garner the respect of peers. Evidence of professional accomplishments commensurate with senior faculty rank (associate professor or professor) is expected, as is strong support of the Catholic identity and mission of King's College, and commitment to the principles of diversity, fairness, and public service.

To apply, send one *.pdf file containing a letter of application, CV, and list of at least three references to hrjobs@kings.edu. The College anticipates an appointment for this 12-month administrative position to begin on July 1st, 2021, though there is some flexibility on the start date.
