Senior Instructional Designer



Summary

The Senior Instructional Designer participates in the planning, design, development, and delivery of high-quality, technology-enabled discovery and learning experiences. This position will work closely with trainers and subject matter experts in creating face-to-face courses, online and hybrid or blended courses and programs. The Senior Instructional Designer will have responsibility for instructional design, project management, and collaboration with trainer and subject matter experts to develop instructional materials to support transformation in curriculum design, innovative use of technology and enhanced learning outcomes.

Position is located at the McGovern Campus.

Job Duties
  • Develops and creates training materials using content authoring tools and other mediums for the audience's need.
  • Builds collaborative positive working relationships with cross functional teams to ensure successful project completion.
  • Applies learning theories, various instructional design principles and frameworks to deliver exceptional solutions.
  • Assists trainers/SMEs in creating engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.
  • Applies tested instructional design theories, practices and methods.
  • Consults with subject matter experts to identify target audience's training needs.
  • Collaborates with trainers/SMEs to design materials and face-to-face, online and hybrid courses that are learner centered and aligned with outcomes and assessments.
  • Coordinates the development of instructional materials that are functional, informative, and consistent with sound pedagogical and instructional design principles.
  • Provides guidance related to the selection and design of exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
  • Identifies assessment criteria used to judge learner's understanding, provide feedback to learners, and develop assessment instruments.
  • Assists in the evaluation of the instructional effectiveness of programs, courses, and training products.
  • Conducts individual training and coaching to meet instructional design and development learning opportunities and needs.
  • Assesses new and emerging technologies, instructional design theories, and approaches and policies for potential application to instructional opportunities.
  • Collaborates and consults with other instructional technology staff.
  • Maintains project documentation and course folders.
  • Position may work with all missions of the College.
  • Works with current trainers to develop hybrid, remote and virtual training materials.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Relevant experience in higher education and clinical environment.
  • Epic e-learning creation.
  • Expert knowledge in instructional design theories and frameworks, including blended and online learning standards and trending digital innovations.
  • Expert knowledge of instructional design and multimedia development tools and software, learning management systems (LMS), web and mobile development, and visual design.
  • Expert competence of instructional design and multimedia development tools and software (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia, audio/video, web conferencing, enterprise applications, etc.), learning management systems (LMS), web and mobile development, and visual design (HTML5, AICC, SCORM, etc.).
  • Expert knowledge of and experience with designing and assessing standards based curriculum and the integration of culture and curriculum (e.g., lessons, units).
  • Recognized as an outstanding instructional designer and proven ability to work successfully using a wide range of instructional strategies.
