Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The System Administrator III, PeopleSoft is responsible for maintaining both application and structure of all pillars. This role must ensure the PeopleSoft pillars are always working. This role provides technical analysis, design, installation, maintenance and modification of broad/complex computer systems and security platforms. In addition, the position is responsible for the design and development of IT systems—developing design and functional specifications, producing deliverables related to the project(s) assigned and assisting in post implementation support and system enhancements. The PS Admin III is responsible for gathering, compiling and synthesizing information with regard to technology processes or systems. This position is member of a 24/7/365 global department with travel within the LSC service area and the availability of on-call scheduling.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintain PeopleSoft PIA and servers upgrade PeopleSoft pillars, troubleshoot issues found by the developers or logs, and set up new tools deliver by Oracle
  2. Patch bugs in PeopleTools, Tuxedo or WebLogic
  3. Responsible for upgrading both PeopleTools and Application to the next version
  4. Apply PUM bundles
  5. Set up PPM for monitoring purposes
  6. On-call MTPs – projects moved through Phire application
  7. Manage PeopleSoft application software, application infrastructure, and third party application environments, and ensure security integration connectivity
  8. Perform problem analysis to resolve system or application issues. Perform complex diagnosis of problems, provide solutions within area of responsibility, and/or consult with other technical staff
  9. Develop and manage internal procedures, tools, and documents to provide a high level of application integrity and availability
  10. Apply PeopleSoft Application patches/bundles, install software, manage the application and database environment, monitor performance, and troubleshoot alerts
  11. Upgrade PeopleSoft application and PeopleTools and other supporting components of the ERP systems
  12. Responsible for other related, reasonable duties as assigned

  • Requires knowledge of learned routines, procedures, practices and more complex skills
  • Demonstrated analysis skills, knowledge of business process review functions, and knowledge of process design, and project management
  • Ability to work in cooperation with developers, analysts, managers, and consultants
  • Ability to deal with somewhat complex problems that must be broken down into manageable pieces
  • Understands relationships between problem components and prioritizes them
  • Utilizes knowledge, experience, and available resources to find solutions
  • Participate in formal or informal group problem solving for immediate issues and to collaborate with team and shares relevant information with those who may be affected by decisions
  • Ability to convey technical or complex information to others in non- technical terms
  • Ability to recognize immediate obstacles to completing work and initiate action to address a need without being directed
  • Knows and follows standard operating procedures and define departmental metrics
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong PeopleSoft maintenance experience with upgrade applications/patches/updates experience
  • Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft Internet Architecture (PIA) and Change Assistant, PUM and Integration Broker.
  • Intermediate certification in area of responsibility

  • Experience with automation of PeopleSoft maintenance

Salary

Hiring salary range is $74,911 to $86,148

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
