Genetic Counselor

The University of Maryland School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is recruiting a full-time on-site Genetic Counselor to work as a member of the vibrant and growing genetics team for the pediatric and adult clinical genetic services. Working with our medical providers, the successful candidate will have primary responsibility for follow up of newborn screening and for our outreach/satellite service. Our Genetic Counselors are Instructors in the Department of Pediatrics and active in the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Program for the Masters in Genetic Counseling. In addition to teaching and supervision of trainees in Genetic Counseling, our Genetic Counselors participate in teaching of teaching trainees in medicine and pediatrics, and have opportunity to participate in scholarly activities.

Qualifications :

Master’s degree from a graduate program accreted by the Accreditation Council of Genetic Counseling and/or active board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.

New graduates are welcome to apply; applicants who are available to begin in May, and applicants with two years or more of relevant experience in general adult and/or pediatric genetics and/or inborn errors of metabolism, may be preferred.
