Position Summary:

The Department of Surgery is seeking a dynamic, innovative Cardiothoracic Surgeon who has the leadership and vision to build state-of-the-art clinical and research programs at UW Health. The incumbent will have a dyad leadership position in structural heart disease for the UW system in collaboration with a partner from Cardiovascular Medicine. Close collaboration with cardiology in multidisciplinary program building is expected. The successful candidate will provide clinical and academic leadership, direction and mentorship for the Section of Adult Cardiac Surgery within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Principal Duties:

The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Cardiothoracic Surgeon with demonstrated expertise in adult cardiac surgical interventions to join the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The successful candidate will have an MD or equivalent, have completed an accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency, be board certified in thoracic surgery, and be eligible for a Wisconsin Medical License.

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative individual who has the leadership and vision to build state-of-the-art clinical (40%) and research (40%) programs at UW Health. The incumbent will have a dyad leadership position (10%) in structural heart disease for the UW system in collaboration with a partner from Cardiovascular Medicine. Close collaboration with the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in multidisciplinary program building is expected. The successful candidate will provide clinical and academic leadership, direction and mentorship for the Section of Adult Cardiac Surgery within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The successful applicant must have a demonstrated interest in clinical practice, research, education and training (10%).

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD, DO, or equivalent is required. Additional training in Cardiothoracic Surgery required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Completion of an ACGME-approved cardiothoracic residency program required.

Candidates must possess clinical and academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the Associate Professor, or Professor Rank. The candidate must have the credentials that meet the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health criteria for promotion or appointment on the Tenure track. Track and rank will depend on candidate's interests and academic credentials.

License or Certificate:

Candidate is required to have or be eligible for a Wisconsin Medical License. Active certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery is required. Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges.

This vacancy is being announced simultaneously with PVL# 232150; please note that only one vacancy exists. Having two position vacancy listings allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider candidates with both tenure-track faculty credentials and non-tenure-track faculty credentials for this position.
