Extended Day Program Assistant Department: Auxiliary Programs Location: Bethesda, MD
Position Start Date: April 2021
Status: Temporary Part-Time


Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks fun and energetic part-time Assistants to work in the Extended Day Program located on its Bethesda, MD campus. This is a temporary part-time position starting April 1st until June 10th. Hours for the program will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:00 - 5:30 pm and Wednesdays from 12:00 – 5:30 pm. Candidates with availability all 5 days will be prioritized; however, we will consider candidates who have availability 3 or more days during the specified time frames.

Responsibilities:

• Interact with children to support play, exploration, and learning

• Plan and implement activities that meet the COVID-19 health and safety protocols

• Meet the individual needs of each child

• Participate in staff and training meetings

• Present expectations that are appropriate to the child’s age and developmental level

• Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff

• Build teamwork

• Follow all COVID-19 protocols established by the Sidwell Friends School Community

Successful candidates should be 18 years of age or older, possess a high school diploma and have prior experience working with children. Additional qualifications include effective communication skills, flexibility, patience, a sense of humor, and a demonstrated love for working with young children and their families. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required; however, if you are not CPR/AED certified you will have the opportunity to complete the course upon hire.

Candidates who are interested in summer employment opportunities should indicate so on the application. Assistant may also be eligible for consideration for the 2021-22 school year.

Successful candidates will need to successfully complete all background checking requirements at the time of hire, adhere to all routine testing for COVID-19 and to all health and safety protocols associated with working on campus.
