The marketing platform web developer will have full stack web development skills with a focus of front-end user experience. They will join the broader digital development team to develop and maintain the central web presence of Syracuse University. The developer position will have direct access to production hosting environments and will be responsible for the template files controlling our central, public web presence and simultaneously the presences of all other sites using centrally supported themes. The web developer position will work closely with our Interactive Designer regarding front-end UI/UX requirements and will lead discussion on industry best-practices with particular focus on enterprise scalability, site performance, cross browser/device compatibility, and search rank. This position will mentor junior teammates and serve as an authority on best-practices in current web development. This position will be responsible for architecting and developing the back-end CMS in addition to API integrations with other systems such as Qualtrics and SalesForce.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent amount of education and work experience.

• Three (3) plus years of work experience related to web design, development, and maintenance.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and experience using web tools and technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and VueJS, accessible and responsive web design/development, Git/GitHub.

• Knowledge of PHP and Python and other server programming languages.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others and independently as necessary.

• Must be able to evaluate requests and offer suggestions.

Responsibilities

• Development and maintenance of https://www.syracuse.edu/, the Home site for Syracuse University.

• Development and maintenance of centrally supported themes and templates distributed across the University.

• QA in collaboration with platform architects for security and performance, interactive designer for front-end functionality and accessibility, information architect for template hierarchy and technical SEO, and content publishers for CMS functionality.

• Professional development and mentoring of junior developer teammates.

• Cross-campus developer collaboration.
