Texas A&M University Corpus Christi invites applications for the founding Director, Center for Collaborative Community Research (CCCR), a re-imagined existing research and regional educational resource center serving the Coastal Bend area of South Texas. The center, formerly the Social Science Research Center, will now include interdisciplinary collaboration especially among the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the College of Education and Human Development. The University anticipates that the successful hire will have a strong track record of successful research, as measured in terms of scholarship and external funding.
The Director reports directly to the Vice President for Research and Innovation. Depending on experience and personal career goals, the Director may pursue a tenured/tenure-track faculty position at the Associate/Professor rank or a non-tenure track Research Professor role associated with any one of the three colleges.

The Center's emerging vision is to be a regionally and nationally recognized home to innovative and community-based participatory research that engages faculty, staff, and students especially from the three colleges with community partners in ways to develop and sustain human and social capital in the South Texas Coastal Bend area. Through interdisciplinary and holistic approaches, research initiatives and projects of the Center will study the interaction among health, education, social, and cultural factors and their impact on educational advancement and the social determinants of health in the region.
Responsibilities:
Program Management:
- Leads the initial and ongoing development of the Center and to
seek external funding to support its vision, mission, and
goals.
- Facilitates the development of services and quality support to
University researchers, graduate assistants, and interns that
contribute meaningfully to the outcomes of the Center.
- Serves as administrative head of the center and is responsible
for the preparation and administration of the budget, policies, and
programs of the center.
- Ensures that the Center for Collaborative Community Research
(CCCR) will be self-sustaining within five years.
Outreach:
- Facilitates and promotes information exchange (e.g. symposia,
seminars, workshops, continuing education classes) within the
University community and between the University and its many
constituencies.
- Connects the Center to public and private sector leaders in the
region and encourages creativity and innovation within the Center
and in the broader community.
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health Sciences,
Education and Human Development, or related.
- Five (5) years of related experience.
- Track record of generating sponsored research.
- Experience working with academics and professionals from
multiple disciplines and sectors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six (6) or more years in an academic or administrative role in
higher education or private sector.
- Demonstrated understanding of community participatory
research.
- Experience working directly with minority- serving institutions
and/or diverse and socioeconomically disadvantaged
populations.
- Strong grant writing and/or grant development
experience.
