The Department of Dance at Skidmore College, ( https://www.skidmore.edu/dance/index.php ), invites applications for a position as contingent lecturer in Hip Hop, Street Dance, or Urban Dance forms to teach for the Fall semester of 2021.

Start Date: September 8th – December 18th 2021

Credit Hours/Payment: 2.5 credits hours. $1400/credit

Responsibilities: Teaching one course in the Fall 2021 semester. This course will include 80-minute in-person classes 2x/week. Instructor will need to be available for additional support to students in the class via email, administer the course learning management system, and may be required to oversee a teaching assistant.

Qualifications: We seek an experienced dance educator with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, who can facilitate cultural competency and technical expertise in Hip Hop, Street Dance, or Urban Dance forms in an undergraduate academic environment. Enthusiasm for mentoring a diverse population of students is essential. A qualified candidate will demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence. Professional experience and/or experience teaching in higher education and is preferred but not required. We recognize that “professional experience” can encompass many kinds of work in the discipline of dance. Please note: instructor will be required to abide by all COVID related college and departmental policies which may include participating in weekly COVID testing on campus. Although not anticipated, instructors must be prepared and comfortable shifting to a remote teaching format if necessary.
