Job Description Summary
The College of Agriculture at Auburn University is seeking applications for the position of Director, Statistics Teaching and Consulting. This is a full-time, twelve-month, Professor of Practice, non-tenure track faculty position with 25% instruction and 75% administrative appointment. Full-time positions are eligible for benefits, including health insurance. The expected start date for this position is August 1, 2021.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching at least one course each academic semester in agricultural statistics and experimental design. The incumbent will also advise and provide support for faculty, graduate students and staff in the initial design and subsequent analyses of experimental data. Additional opportunities could include service on graduate student committees or participation on grant proposals and research projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include i) an earned Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Statistics or a related discipline, with an emphasis in biostatistics or agricultural statistics and appropriate professional experience as a statistical analyst or consultant, or ii) an earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in an Agriculture-related discipline, with teaching or consulting experience in agricultural statistics. Either degree must be conferred by employment begin date. Successful candidates should have extensive statistical and experimental design knowledge, with experience in Excel and statistical programming languages such as SAS and R. The candidate must have strong communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills. The incumbent must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Desirable qualifications include previous statistics teaching and consulting experience and evidence of publications in this area.
