Director of Major and Planned Gifts

The Director will secure major and planned gifts which further the University’s mission and strategic plan by developing and implementing long-term strategies and tactics for a portfolio of approximately 150 donors and prospective donors. Through various forms of outreach, most importantly individual face-to-face visits, the Director will qualify, cultivate and solicit prospects, with a focus on prospects in their assigned portfolio. This position requires extensive travel (approximately 5-10 days per month). The Director will also collaborate with colleagues to achieve Division-wide goals related to alumni engagement, annual giving, Saxon Circle, and stewardship.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience in fundraising, or five years of experience in a related field with demonstrated transferrable skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Excellent judgment and professionalism
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Speak comfortably and knowledgeably with donors about philanthropy and how to most effectively structure a gift to the University

• Demonstrate excellent active listening skills that promote relationship-building and communicate genuine curiosity about others’ lives and interests
• Ability to communicate the mission, goals and values of the University in a positive way to inspire confidence, loyalty and pride among constituent groups.
