Web Developer I - FE/UI Institutional Advancement
Position Category: Staff - Full-Time
Summary:
The Web Frontend/UI Developer works in collaboration with Web Architects and Web Programmers to ensure that all UVU public and intranet web sites/systems are functioning correctly. This position also works with departments across campus to support and develop web pages and systems based on department needs within campus standards.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and one years of experience related to the summary of duties; OR an associate’s degree and three years of experience related to the summary of duties; OR any combination of education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling five years.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- Experience with web design concepts (with a visual eye for design) and how front and backend technologies impact the design process.
- Experience with front-end solutions including HTML/CSS templates, responsive/adaptive design, JavaScript/jQuery and AJAX code and rich media production and integration.
- Experience with documentation of user-centeric design methodologies, style guides, web standards, and web technologies/languages best practices.
- Experience with facilitating usability testing and review of usability testing results.
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS template builds from design documentation for integration into interactive desktop and mobile websites, web applications and software based GUIs.
- Knowledge of code and design quality through the execution of test plans including cross-browser and cross-platform quality testing.
- Knowledge of web solutions using AJAX, PHP, XML, JSON, SOAP, etc.
- Responsive/Adaptive knowledge.
- AJAX Knowledge.
- PHP Scripting knowledge.
- SEO Knowledge.
- Knowledge of best practices for user experience
- Understanding or experience working with graphic designers and marketing leaders to generate and implement content within best practices and for a strong call-to-action
- Knowledge of ways to measure to ascertain impact of web development efforts
Skills:
- HTML advanced skills.
- CSS3 advanced skills.
- CMS advanced skills.
- Javascript and jQuery skills.
- Strong track record of success interacting with customers and in customer service settings.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Ability to communicate clearly and exercise effective interpersonal, problem-solving, team-oriented, and decision-making skills where a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Abilities:
- Ability to resolve problems by thinking logically, identify tasks, and develop modular programming steps.
- Ability to follow directions and working under supervision.
- Ability to maintain current industry standards and trends by attending training and conferences; reading technical material; and corresponding with other professionals through the use of list services, networks, and bulletin boards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively when needed.
- Ability to collaborate, receive constructive criticism, and desire to meet best practices.

Pay Range: $45,483 - $56,854, annually
