Most recently, LFCC launched a new Associate of Science specialization in Cybersecurity Engineering, designed to transfer in its entirety to the Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security Engineering at George Mason University.

The candidate will be responsible for curriculum instruction development and/or teaching in the discipline of cybersecurity according to the requirements as outlined within the Center of Academic Excellence designation criteria. Teaching may be in various modalities such as face-to-face, online and mixed (hybrid.) In addition, the candidate may be responsible for grant preparation and/or contribution, collaboration among the college units, VCCS entities and community entities, and initiate/contribute to outreach activities (curriculum marketing, and community event participation) in the cybersecurity and collaborating fields. Specific learning components include, but are not limited to: Cybersecurity foundations (Theory of security and privacy, models of trust and risk, secure communication and computation, cryptography, threat modeling), and secure systems (Secure O/S, databases, networks, cloud systems, hardware, embedded systems, and mobile devices/apps, IoT systems).

Experience in setting up or enhancing a state-of-the-art Cyber Lab is preferred, including making decisions and recommendations on hardware and software acquisitions supporting a secured cyber infrastructure for learning. The objective is to give students a thorough grounding in technology and cybersecurity fundamentals along with systematic hands-on experience to prepare students for an appropriate cybersecurity related job with a very short-learning curve. Students need to be provided with all the tools necessary to succeed in a highly competitive market.

We seek candidates with educational and industry experience in cybersecurity related technology, preferably with a concentration in the cybersecurity “components” mentioned previously. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills in community presentations and experience in research and knowledge, with a major focus in cybersecurity and a minor focus in related technology-based disciplines.
