Texas A&M University is seeking a highly motivated Director of Enrollment Analytics with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.  The Director will lead a team responsible for designing, leading and supporting enrollment research and data analysis for the Division of Enrollment & Academic Services.  The candidate should have the ability to guide the delivery of highly analytical insights that enable timely and effective operational decision-making in regards to enrollment initiatives.  Our selected candidate wil subscribe to and support our commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability (IDEA).

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience in enrollment analytics research and/or Enrollment Management including some supervisory experience

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with statistical and modeling tools (i.e. SPSS, SAS, STAT or other statistical modeling software)

  • Comprehensive knowledge of statistics including inferential statistics, multivariate regression, predictive analytics, and graphical display

  • Excellent speaking, writing and editing skills to prepare a variety of analytical reports, proposals, correspondence, procedures, agreements and training documents

  • Ability to present complex information to senior administrators in a non-technical manner

  • Demonstrative ability to motivate and manage staff

  • Able to provide good judgment for decision-making and problem solving

  • Organizational skills to plan, coordinate, and set priorities effectively

  • Effective negotiating skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in higher education research and evaluation, data analytics, statistics or a PhD in Higher Education Research (focus on statistics) or Statistics

  • Advanced experience in Enrollment Management research, modeling and analysis

  • Experience in a leadership role within an Enrollment Analytics unit in higher education

  • Significant experience managing complex projects with aggressive deadlines, and advanced knowledge of visualization techniques

  • Demonstrated experience harnessing data to develop, shape and support a clear message and narrative and possess strong analytical capacity with the ability to engage in constant analysis of opportunities and challenges especially as it relates to information on local, regional, national and international trends in higher education and on developments in competitor institutions

  • Demonstrated leadership in creating and supporting an environment of continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint or other tools

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of FERPA and other federal compliance relevant to higher education data usage

  • Understanding of financial aid and leveraging techniques

  • Excellent strategic and analytic ability with strong knowledge of statistical methods and understanding of effective use of quantitative and qualitative research to improve planning, decision-making, and policy formulation

  • Knowledge in data collection and analysis techniques including statistics or social science research techniques, knowledge of organization-specific computer application programs (query tools and relational databases)

  • Strong collaborator and be able to hear what constituents are saying and translate into research priorities that inform the institutional mission and vision

  • Ability to look across an organization to identify opportunities to increase excellence in serve and improvements in efficiency and effectiveness

 

Responsibilities:

  • Enrollment Analytics Operations - Leads a team responsible for designing, leading, and supporting enrollment research and data analysis for the division. Establishes the direction, goals, plans, implementation, and strategies of department necessary to provide expertise in cross-functional data and information systems in order to deliver actionable analysis. Provides direct oversight of the daily operations for enrollment analytics. Supervises the daily work of staff members, monitors and evaluates daily performance and ensures a high quality of work in a supportive environment. Promotes a service mindset to support the needs of Enrollment Management through effective outreach and communication of available information, as well as through the development of new information. Oversees communications, promotions, and public relations for department. Directs and enhances development of training programs and resources for new and continuing staff. Establishes short- and long-term service goals and implements training regimens to achieve them and maintain quality programs and facilities. Establishes and approves team-assigned project priorities and service levels. Administers the budget and oversees fiscal operations of the Enrollment Analytics department. Develops and seeks funding for departmental programs to promote the department's missions. Also responsible for the preparation and administration of policies for the department.

  • Assessment - Maintains a thorough understanding of the process of enrollment, from recruitment through graduation. Optimizes the recruitment process through rigorous analysis of both internal and external data. Models admission and financial aid scenarios to optimize enrollment size, academic and demographic markers and net tuition revenue. This includes utilizing internal resources as well as evaluating potential external vendors for enrollment and financial aid modeling. Creates dashboards for recruitment, retention and financial aid, broken down by colleges and programs to further enhance forecasting enrollment. Collaborates with internal team and vendor(s) to create financial aid modeling for new and returning students. Provides robust outcomes analysis through both internal and external databases. Directs and ensures quality outcomes of information provided to multiple constituencies across campuses. Directs preparation of reports for external and internal use, both on a production schedule and an ad-hoc basis.

  • Leadership - Oversees departmental leadership team. Provides strong analytical, problem-solving and managements skills to independently research and conduct applied statistical analyses with an ability to communicate complex information in a clear manner that is able to be understood by audiences that may not have statistical or database backgrounds. Fosters a positive, collaborative partnership with colleagues to promote openness among team members and responsiveness to constituents. Facilitates a work environment and culture that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of diverse backgrounds; incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion efforts into all administrative activities. Represents the division and the university, both on and off campus, as a representative of enrollment services and provide leadership within the state and nation, as needed. Provides leadership to enrollment-related functions as needed. Ensures that programs, activities, and services comply with University, State, and Federal regulations. Assesses departmental needs with regards to administrative space, equipment, computing resources, and personnel.

  • Special projects - Works on special projects within the division.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
