The Wheaton College Department of Psychology seeks a colleague who shares our commitment to liberal arts education in the context of a gender-balanced, culturally diverse curriculum and community. We invite applications for a two-year visiting assistant professor position, beginning in the fall of 2021. Wheaton has been operating under a remote hybrid teaching model in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It is our hope to return to an in-person teaching model for the fall of 2021. While this position may be temporarily remote, there is an expectation that the teaching will be on campus when the college determines it is safe to return to in-person operations. Wheaton is a private, coeducational, liberal arts college of 1800 students located in Norton, MA and within easy commuting distance of Boston and Providence. The department and the college are committed to attracting promising candidates from underrepresented groups, with the goal of enriching our intellectual community and increasing the diversity of our faculty. For more information about the college, visit our website at www.wheatoncollege.edu.
All candidates should be prepared to teach three courses per semester including Introductory Psychology, Statistics for the Social Sciences, and one or more of the following: Social Psychology, Cognition, Learning and Memory, and/or an upper division course in their area of specialization.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Psychology as of Fall 2021 term. The second year of this appointment is contingent upon a satisfactory annual review.
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience at an undergraduate level.
For full consideration, the following are to be submitted via
Wheaton’s online application system: letter of application,
curriculum vitae, teaching and research philosophies, evidence of
teaching effectiveness, a copy of selected publications, and
contact information for three references. Please note that
references will not be contacted upon application; confidential
letters of reference will be collected at a later stage of the
hiring process and applicants will be alerted ahead of time. A PhD
in Psychology is required. Applications will be considered on an
on-going basis, beginning March 15th. Visit https://jobs.wheatoncollege.edu/postings/3008
