Position/Rank
Thomas More University seeks a full-time, term renewable, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology beginning August 2021. Term-renewable may hold faculty rank, are eligible for promotion based on University standards, and participate fully in the life of the University by accessing faculty development support and by serving on Departmental, College, and University committees. Faculty development support currently includes travel funds for conference attendance, instructional design support by an Instructional Designer, and regular workshops and training sessions focused on pedagogical innovation and development.
Primary responsibilities are teaching 12 credit hours a semester in Psychology, primarily to an adult population in an accelerated 8-week online format during regular semesters. Teaching for additional compensation may be undertaken during the University’s Winter and Summer sessions, based on programmatic needs in the field. Experience designing and delivering courses in online and accelerated formats is required; some on-ground teaching may be part of the standard teaching portfolio.
The successful applicant will be a generalist who can offer courses from among the following: General Psychology, Abnormal, Lifespan Development, Social Psychology, Statistics, Experimental Design, Personality, Learning, Motivation, Cognition, Biopsychology, Clinical & counseling, or History of Psychology. Other regular and ongoing responsibilities may include one or more of the following: advising, committee assignments, supervision of student projects and internships, contributing to the Department’s support of student recruitment, and coordinating the online accelerated degree program through the year.
Qualifications
Terminal degree in Psychology preferred. Successful experience in undergraduate and online teaching preferred.
