Job Description Summary

To oversee the financial operations of grants ensuring compliance with granting agency regulations and laws.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Associates degree or equivalent formal training in accounting, business, or a related field.
  2. Combination of education and related experience for a total of six years.
  3. Two years of direct responsibility with grants accounting.
  4. Experience working with a complex financial management system.
  5. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  6. Experience in a college environment preferred.

  1. Handles cash management functions for all grants including preparation of reimbursement requests, draw-downs of funds and billing.
  2. Prepares monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting entries and financial reports for all grants.
  3. Ensures that grant funds are expended in compliance with the granting agency regulations; responsible for budgetary control of grants.
  4. Prepares journal entries and reconciles various general ledger accounts.
  5. Handles post-award administration of grants.
  6. Interacts with outside agencies, independent auditors and project directors; serves as accounting office contact for all grants.
  7. Monitors applicable federal regulations for regulatory changes and updates to grants and contracts.
  8. Maintains current knowledge of changes in policies, procedures and guidelines of grants and contracts.
  9. Regularly meets with grant project administrators providing updates on the financial status of grants
    and contracts.
  10. Develops relationships with granting agencies and grant project administrators and support staff to
    direct and assist in the grant or contract.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  1. Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work schedule is subject to change based on department needs.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  3. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
