Security Administrator


Job Summary/Basic Function

The Security Administrator’s role is to coordinate the secure operation of the in-house computer systems, servers, and network connections. This includes operations management of server and firewall logs, scrutinizing network traffic, establishing, and updating virus scans, and troubleshooting. This position will also analyze security concerns and vulnerability issues in a timely and accurate fashion and conduct user activity audits where required.

The Security Administrator is expected to interact with peers in the Systems and Network departments as well as other IT staff and with the leaders of the business units to both share the corporate security vision and to solicit their involvement in achieving higher levels of enterprise security through information sharing and co-operation.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of cyber security, computer science and 5 years equivalent work experience or equivalent combination of experience and education to successfully do the job.
  • CISSP Certification.
  • CISA Certification.
  • Knowledge of:
    • firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices.
    • TCP /IP and network administration/protocols.
    • applicable practices and laws relating to data privacy and protection.
    • security standards such as NIST, CIS, etc.
  • Awareness of:
    • network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows OS X.x, Mac OS X.x, iOS, Android OS, Linux, VMWare, etc.
    • systems software, protocols, and standards, including Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco, VMWare, Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, etc.
  • Familiarity with devices such as hubs, switches, and routers.
  • Extensive experience in enterprise security document creation.
  • Experience:
    • in designing and delivering employee security awareness training.
    • managing staff.
    • with contract management and vendor relationship management.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.
  • On-call availability as required.
