Job Summary

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position. The Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station ( AAES ) and College of Agriculture ( COA ) have a combined budget of approximately $75 million that funds activities in all three mission areas of Auburn University. Sources of funding include state appropriations, federal appropriations, auxiliary revenues, contracts and grants, and private gifts. The management of the financial and human resource activities is the responsibility of the business office for the AAES and COA in which this position is assigned.

Essential Functions

The successful candidate will be career-oriented and will have both sound accounting and customer service skills to accomplish the goals of the Director and Assistant Director of the AAES and College of Agriculture Business Office. This individual will assist in the financial support of various groups and individuals in the organization including, but not limited to: AAES Research Centers, academic departments in the College of Agriculture, Dean and Director’s office, and other groups within the two organizations. In addition, this position interacts with groups across campus. Being responsive and attentive to their requests is critical. In addition to financial support, this individual may perform duties related to payroll and assist the Office of Student Services with the awarding or scholarships.

Minimum Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of accounting and budget principles, practices, and the analysis of financial data is required. Applicants must be organized, accurate, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple challenging projects simultaneously. A proven history of working both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines while adjusting workload is required. Additionally, the successful candidate must possess excellent presentation skills, written and interpersonal communications skills, and a strong commitment to delivering customer service.

Minimum Technology Skills

Experience using MS Excel, relational databases, and accounting software to provide solutions by analyzing complex sets of data is essential.

Desired Qualifications

Desired qualifications include the following:
An undergraduate degree in Accounting; CPA and/or Masters of Accountancy; solid background experience in accounting; experience with financial management in the area of planning, forecasting, and budgeting; and advanced skills in Excel.
