Position Summary

The Gomez infectious disease laboratory in the Department of Pediatrics/Center for Clinical and Translational Research, is seeking a highly motivated research technician to work on projects directed by the Clinical Chief of Pediatric Infectious Disease. The RT should be proficient in PCR, electrophoresis, DNA isolation and basic genomics. S/he should have experience in basic chemistry, basic microbiology, and basic immunology techniques. The incumbent is required to write laboratory reports, abstracts for research meetings, and contribute and provide primary support for grants and scientific manuscripts. The position involves communications verbally and in writing with Latin American collaborators.

• The proper care and maintenance of equipment.
• Preparation for experiments in the lab
• Monitoring of supplies
• The careful maintenance of labs records.

Minimum Qualifications

At least a bachelor’s degree in field related to biological or biomedical sciences, as well as at least one year of experience working in a laboratory environment. Master’s degree is preferred. Candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and must also be organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Candidate must be proficient in the basic use of computers and electronic recording keeping, including proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. as well as Spanish language
