Job Description:

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for a full-time Lecturer of Synoptic Meteorology beginning Fall 2021. This is a non-tenure track position with an appointment of one year. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching and continuing professional development.

The eight-member Department is multi-disciplinary with undergraduate programs in meteorology, earth science, earth science education, and geology. The Department strongly encourages its faculty to conduct/supervise research projects that involve undergraduates. We have a strong history of excellence in teaching, faculty-student mentoring, and continued contact with alumni. The Department is part of the School of Sciences, which consists of 10 academic departments and 2,400 students majoring in 22 programs. Duties include but not limited to: teaching undergraduate courses in weather analysis and forecasting, introductory meteorology, introductory oceanography; and other courses to meet department needs; collecting weather data from rooftop instrumentation.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications: master's degree in an atmospheric science field with a strong background in synoptic meteorology.

Preferred: weather instrumentation; prior teaching experience in meteorology as either instructor of record or teaching assistant; and experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching experience.
