Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Student Services, the Dean of Outreach, First Year Experience ( FYE ) & Pathway Communities has administrative responsibility over assigned faculty and classified employees, in collaboration with Deans of Student Services and Deans of Instruction, to implement, maintain, and integrate the college’s FYE program and pathways communities (HomeBases) in a guided pathways framework.

Assignment Responsibilities

LEADERSHIP / COORDINATION :
● Administering student onboarding services including outreach, student orientations, assignment to case management teams, academic counseling and advising within HomeBases, and the integration of academic and instructional support services to facilitate student success.
● Coordinating with the Institutional Effectiveness Council to evaluate strategies focused on improving student outcomes in adherence with the principles of Guided Pathways.
● Coordinating multiple budget sources in support of student success from outreach to pathway completion, including grants, general funds, and allocated categorical funds.
● Administering inclusion and equity programming for initial student onboarding, including summer transitional experiences, focusing on underrepresented groups.
● Overseeing the development, implementation, and coordination of high impact practices and targeted activities improving academic success, persistence, and completion of participating students.
● Overseeing all aspects of retention and case management services designed to support student academic goal completion within Pathway Communities.
● Overseeing for the development and maintenance of equity-focused programs and services within pathways communities and also facilitates student connections to learning communities and categorical programs to support students from disproportionately impacted groups.

COLLABORATION / TEAM BUILDING :
● Collaborating with the appropriate deans and collaborating with academic departments to support the integration of the college’s Guided Pathways programs and services to support student success.
● Serving on college and district committees at the appointment of the College President and Vice President of Student Services.
● Facilitating first year experience ( FYE ) programming from initial recruitment and orientation services to connections with pathway communities (HomeBases), categorical support programs, and learning communities.
● Promoting social justice and equity in recruitment, retention, and program development in collaboration with faculty and staff to meet Institutional Equity Plan and Educational Plan objectives.

PROJECT DOCUMENTATION / DELIVERABLES :
● Administering multiple program budgets including general fund allocations, associated grant funds, and related categorical funds.
● Administering associated grants and conducts program reports in compliance with grant objectives and organizational requirements.
● Developing and maintaining a comprehensive communications plan and messaging for communications to students within Pathway Communities (HomeBases) using multiple platforms.
● Developing written materials and reports related to first-year experience programming and Pathway Communities activities, presenting at campus committees, attending departmental meetings, and hosting workshops.
● Resolving student complaints or needs within the HomeBase Centers.
● Maintaining and facilitating college needs assessments and intake processes to support student transitions to ARC and identifying appropriate resources and services the students may need.
● Development, implementation and monitoring of the college’s comprehensive recruitment plan with an emphasis to meet recruitment goals of disproportionately impacted population groups from local educational institutions and community agencies.

TRAINING / STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND SUPERVISION :
● Overseeing faculty and staff providing services within HomeBases including academic counseling, case management services, associated mentorship programs, student engagement activities, coordination with instructors and instructional programs, retention services, and programming leading to successful program completion and career readiness.
● Conducting certificated faculty and classified staff evaluations in accordance with collective bargaining agreements to support continuous improvement of employee work performance and outcomes.
● Participating in the personnel selection process, including developing and reviewing selection criteria, recruiting, screening, interviewing, and recommending hires within area of responsibility.
● Supervising Success Teams staff and Pathway Communities programming each semester, including workshops and events designed to increase and support student engagement, retention, and success.

● Performing other duties as assigned.

The administrative assignment may include day, evening, weekend, and/or off-campus work and/or hours.

1. Have a master’s degree* from an accredited institution completed by July 1, 2021.

2. Have one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s administrative assignment

3. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Physical Demands Salary $136,580 to $147,838 annually. LRCCD Salary Schedules Additional Salary Information Additional stipend for an earned doctorate from an accredited university.
