SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Associate Vice President, the
Associate Dean for Skills and Technology has the primary
responsibility of providing strategic leadership, direction, and
management for all efforts related to non-credit classes,
continuing education programs and activities designed to enhance
the advancement and development of the College, a complex portfolio
of WIOA grants, SBDC and of campus locations. The Associate Dean of
Skills and Technology is also responsible for providing
administrative leadership over Workforce Development, Adult
Education, and Work Ready initiatives. This individual is
responsible for creating short- and long-term goals, non-credit CTE
focus on other campus’.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Serves students. Provides strategic guidance and leadership for all
major programs and activities designed to enhance the advancement
and development of the college. Areas of programmatic
responsibility include Workforce Development, Adult Education, Work
Ready initiatives, SBDC at Parker, San Luis and Wellton
campus’.
Represents the college in the business community by interacting
with local businesses/industry, Chambers of Commerce and economic
development entities. Manage and coordinate the development
of educational services to support local economic development
initiative by collaborating with area economic development agencies
to develop business recruitment and expansion strategies. Work with
diverse community groups, facilitating new partnerships through
outreach and maintains existing relationships. Develop and
maintain working relationships with advisory boards, external
contacts, alumni, volunteers, faculty, and staff.
Develop, implement, manage, and evaluate credit & non-credit
educational services, SBDC and programs that address the needs of
local, regional and state businesses and industries. Develop and
implement strategies to secure year to year increases in
participation and support for the college. Collaborate with the
administration and faculty on the academic side of the college to
joint venture in development of new workforce programs to enhance
workforce development.
Prepare, recommend, and administer the budget for the division
and departments; remain informed on sources of income, especially
federal and state aid. Assist with writing grants to create revenue
for new or existing programs. Develop annual departmental and
program budgets. Monitors budget versus actual revenue and
expenses. Develop and implement contingency plans.
Routinely attend special events and actively promote program
activities at all campuses. Routinely represent the college with
local councils, police juries, chambers, workforce investment
councils, economic development organizations and other regional,
municipal, or local government entities/organizations in order to
best position the college for support throughout the region served
by.
Support and participate in strategic initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Business, Education, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Four years of progressive responsibility and experience in management, program development, or private industry.
- Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated administrative and budget experience.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership and management.
Or - Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Six years of progressive responsibility and experience in management, program development, or private industry.
- Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated administrative and budget experience.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership and management
- Supervisory experience required.
Preferred:
- Six (6) or more years of progressive responsibility in
Workforce Development, Small Business Development, and Technical
Education.
- Five or more years of supervisory experience.
Work Schedule:
- Exempt position, 12 months, Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-5:00pm. May included some Fridays, evenings and weekends.
