Job Description:
The faculty position will teach eighteen credits per year ( 6 at the graduate level and 3 at the undergraduate level, each semester) at an art school nationally known for valuing the arts as an avenue for social change, a dedication to teaching excellence, and a rigorous liberal arts curriculum. The candidate will be capable of teaching in a graduate program, directing workshop leaders and leading critiques, be knowledgeable of traditional and digital techniques, and have a broad understanding of new approaches to illustration as a practice. This position is a temporary one-year appointment serving in an interim faculty assignment covering faculty on sabbatical leave.

The interdisciplinary nature of the MFA in Illustration Practice program and College require that faculty maintain an active professional practice and meaningfully contribute in a variety of areas that include the ability to work inside of established budgets, advise students, serve on institutional committees, attend scheduled program activities, and coordinate a program exhibition of student work during the school year.

Requirements:

  • MFA degree in illustration
  • Minimum three years of teaching experience at the college-level beyond graduate assistantships.
  • Experience critiquing beginning and advanced students.
  • Experience establishing or managing creative partnerships in the City of Baltimore.
  • An established practice in diverse areas of illustration.
  • Candidate must successfully complete a full background check.

Valued, but not required:

  • Experience working with students that have degrees other than illustration.
