Executive Director, Institute of Politics

The Institute of Politics seeks as its Executive Director a highly energetic and entrepreneurial leader who is passionate about providing meaningful opportunities for students to engage in politics, public policy and civic participation at the local, national, and international levels. The Executive Director will report to and work in partnership with the IOP’s Founder and Institute Director, David Axelrod, to build on the IOP’s impressive trajectory and bring innovative new programming ideas to its mission.

The Executive Director will be a talented and enthusiastic administrator with a record of success in complex, fast-paced environments where collaboration is critical. They should be equally adept at managing an organization's internal operations and representing an organization to outside constituents. The Executive Director will manage all administrative and financial functions of the IOP as well as oversee and support Institute-wide programming.  

In a dynamic environment, the Executive Director must demonstrate the ability to quickly respond to challenges and opportunities--to exercise good judgment and superb interpersonal skills in responding to the needs and concerns of students, staff and institutional partners.  They must be flexible, sensitive and strategic in pursuing the IOP’s goals with fidelity to its fundamental tenets and those of the university on important principles such as civil discourse and free expression of ideas.
