SUMMARY OF PURPOSE:

Oakland Community College is seeking a full-time Physics instructor who will participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational courses, and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the strategic plan of the college.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Experience and interest in teaching Concepts in Physics, College Physics, Engineering Physics, Astronomy
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Experience and interest in course assessment
  • Experience in working with laboratory support staff
  • Participation in recent professional development
  • Experience in college-level curriculum development for both lecture and laboratory course components.
  • Willingness to update lab equipment/instruments as needed
  • Experience in using an LMS (learning management system) such as D2L or Canvas, for course delivery and/or assessment
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Ability to work as a team player in a multi-cultural diverse working environment

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Master's Degree or higher in Physics

EXPERIENCE: Two years' full time (or equivalent) of recent experience teaching freshmen and sophomore level physics and astronomy is preferred. Community college teaching preferred.
