The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) of the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for tenured and tenure-track faculty to fill multiple positions in support of the curriculum and research efforts of the Civil Engineering Program. Applicants at all levels of professorship will be considered. Rank and tenure will be determined based on the candidate's credentials.   

CAECM supports programs in Civil Engineering (CE), Architectural Engineering (AE), and Construction Management (CM).  The Civil Engineering program, established in 1872, offers BS, MS, MEng, and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering.  CE graduate degree tracks include building systems, construction engineering/management, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and transportation engineering. 

Transportation Engineering position: Successful applicants will be expected to develop research activities and deliver fundamental, innovative courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels in advanced transportation engineering and emerging technologies, such as intermodal transportation operation and management with connected and automation technologies, smart mobility and service, transportation resilience and sustainability, AI/ML based C-V2X data analytics, automated freight transportation and logistics, and other disruptive transportation technologies.

Construction Engineering/Management or Geotechnical Engineering position: Successful applicants will be expected to develop research activities and deliver fundamental, innovative courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels in construction engineering/management or geotechnical engineering. Potentially will collaborate in interdisciplinary research and education activities in the context of emerging transportation infrastructure technologies, such as intelligent resilient infrastructures, intelligent work zone operation and management, sensing technologies and informatics for asset management, etc.

In addition, the above positions are required to engage in scholarly activities in terms of securing research funds and publish research results and, participate in academic service activities such as the curriculum committee and faculty development service, supporting the mission of CAECM, CEAS and UC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior to effective date of the appointment, of the following is required:

  • Transportation Engineering discipline: A PhD in Civil Engineering, Intelligent Transportation Systems, or a related field.
  • Construction Engineering/Management discipline: A PhD in Construction Engineering/Management or a related field
  • Geotechnical Engineering discipline: A PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field
